TIMSTAR’S BUSY START TO 2012...

At Timstar we don’t get to ease gently into the New Year. January starts with a rush as our sales team head off to the annual Association for Science Education Conference, held this year at the University of Liverpool.

 The conference comprises a packed itinerary of workshops and lectures along with a supplier’s exhibition. January can bring unpredictable weather in this country so it may surprise those of you who have not attended this conference that the exhibition venue is a marquee put up in the university grounds.



This year the English weather brought forth gales on the 3rd and 4th of January – just when the marquee was being erected! Despite this everyone was set up and ready for the arrival of delegates on the 5th of January. Our three new recruits to the sales team (Linda Holland, Matt Blake and Michaela Robinson) were roped in to help run the Timstar sponsored workshops and deal with customer enquiries on the
exhibition stand.

Linda had the following to say: 'I started as an Area Manager with Timstar in January and was straight in at the deep end - attending the ASE conference in Liverpool. As a school technician I had always meant to go but never made the arrangements! It was great to meet so many technicians from different schools and I was surprised at the number of international students and teachers. I visited and took part in the Timstar workshops and learnt many new things, using equipment that I had never seen before. I really enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to meeting some of you there next January. ASE 2013 will be at the University of Reading. Try and get yourself organised as it is well worth a visit! Also if anyone wishes to meet me before please don’t hesitate to get in touch I look forward to meeting you'.

And if the ASE conference didn’t keep us busy enough then there was the BETT Show! Straight after fi nishing at ASE our Sales Team headed off to Olympia to set up an exhibition stand for the BETT Show. This show is aimed at IT and technology rather than science but there is science in everything so Timstar turn out to let you know that whatever it is, if it’s science education you can get it from us!


Gary D’cruz and Sarah Marshall manned the stand for the week and had the following to say:

Gary:
'2012 was my third time exhibiting at BETT and I thought the turnout was the best yet with people visiting the stand right up until the fi nal minutes on Saturday afternoon. Each year more IT based products are added to the catalogue as it becomes more and more popular for interactive whiteboards to display or record experiments in action and nowadays some science equipment like the uPower can even connect to the computer wirelessly. BETT was a good opportunity for us to display Timstar’s IT based products especially the new Benchmark range of products which received good feedback throughout the exhibition. I look forward to BETT 2013 and hope it is even more successful at the new ExCel London venue'.


 

Sarah: 'It is January so it must be BETT, Olympia in London gets transformed by hundreds of companies displaying and informing educational establishments about the latest available products in Information Technology. Timstar were proud to display our latest innovations in the Benchmark range of Equipment, backed up by lots of information and give aways. We were sad to say Good bye to BETT @ Olympia, it will move to the ExCel centre in London Docklands next year. Make a note in your diary for 30th January to 2nd February 2013'.
